CW5 John P. Peart

Command Chief Warrant Officer, USASMDC

CW5 John P. Peart, became the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command’s command chief warrant officer on May 6, 2025. He was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, and graduated from Northeastern High School in 1995. He entered active-duty Army on July 13, 1995, at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and graduated from Advanced Individual Training as a 14J, early warning systems operator from Fort Bliss, Texas, in January 1996.

His first duty station was with 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He graduated Warrant Officer Candidate School in February 2005, and in July 2006, he completed Warrant Officer Basic Course as a 140A, air and missile defense system integrator. His first duty station as a warrant officer was with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood. He most recently served in the Pentagon as part of the United States Army Joint Counter-Small Unmanned Aerial System Office.

He has served in various Army and joint/combined leadership and staff positions while stationed at Fort Hood; Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Germany; Fort Bliss; Osan Air Force Base, Korea; Misawa Air Force Base, Japan; Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Shaw Airforce Base, South Carolina. His deployments to Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia led to operational support to Operation Southern Watch, Operation Spartan Shield, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. His most recent deployment was in 2020 with III Armored Corps in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.

CW5 Peart holds an associate’s degree in general studies from Central Texas College and a Bachelor of Science in human resource management from Park University. His professional education includes Warrant Officer Senior Staff Education, Joint Interface Control Officer, and the Army Space Cadre Basic Course.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (seven oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (seven oak leaf clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (one oak leaf cluster), Army Superior Unit Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (four stars), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (one star), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (one star), Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, and Army Basic Space Badge.

CW5 Peart has been married more than 27 years, and they have three grown children.
