COL Joseph Paladino received his commission through ROTC at the University of Central Florida in 1999. He currently serves as the commander of the 100th Missile Defense Brigade (Ground-based Midcourse Defense) and most recently served as the chief of Space Policy and Doctrine Division at U.S. Space Command. Prior to that assignment, COL Paladino was appointed as a U.S. Army War College National Security Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
COL Paladino is a founding member of USSPACECOM where he served as the deputy chief of Staff (pre-command establishment) and the deputy chief of Joint Fires (post-command establishment). Other non-command assignments include platoon leader, materiel management officer, and deputy support operations officer in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; battalion logistics officer in the 5th Armored Brigade, First Army; operations officer, Army Space Support Team leader and battalion executive officer in the 117th Space Battalion (Colorado National Guard); strategic planner at U.S. Northern Command; and USNORTHCOM liaison officer to commander, U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida.
His command assignments include: commander, D Troop, 362nd Armored Battalion, 5th Armored Brigade; commander, 217th Space Company, 117th Space Battalion; and commander, 117th Space Battalion.
COL Paladino’s assignment history includes two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 with the 4th Infantry Division and 2008-2009 with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration in logistics management from Colorado Technical University, a Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Central Florida, and a Project Management Professional Certification through the Project Management Institute.
COL Paladino is married, and they have two children.
