  BUCHOLZ ARMY AIRFIELD (PKWA)

Use of this facility requires Prior Permission Request (PPR) approval from the USAKA Commander at least 24 hours in advance.

Bucholz AAF will support up to and including C5A military aircraft. A fully operational FAA tower, a TACAN instrument approach and an ADF/DME approach support transient aircraft in and out of the airfield. Aircraft flying into and out of Bucholz AAF will operate in Class D airspace during the hours of 1730-0930Z (UTC+12). Crash and Fire Rescue assets are available 24 hours per day.

  • Runway (0624):6,673 feet long x 200 feet wide. There is no overrun on either end of runways 06 and 24.

Ground Support

  • Support equipment includes Air Carts, Air Conditioners, Power Units, Forklifts, 25,000# K-Loader, Staircase, Lavatory Carts., and four R11 Refuelers (JP5).
  • Limited Trans Alert is available.
  • Transient billeting (Adjacent to Terminal)
  • Taxi service 24 hours per day.
  • Aircraft maintenance includes a wide variety of aircraft maintenance support from fully staffed and equipped battery, sheet metal, engine, welding (NDI) and avionics shops.
  • Level 3 NDI capability.
  • Limited hangar facilities

  DYESS ARMY AIRFIELD (PKRO)

Direct flights into Dyess AAF are not authorized. Electro-magnetic radiation exists 24 hours daily within a 10 nautical mile radius of the airfield and from the surface to 50,000 feet. Pilots should consult the FLIP Planning AP/3, Oakland FIR, and Flight Hazard prior to transiting this area. Over-flights of Dyess AAF are not authorized.

Dyess AAF will support up to and including C130 military aircraft. Bucholz Tower controls landings and take-offs. Dyess Fire Department provides an advisory information service only. Aircraft flying into and out of Dyess AAF will operate in Class D airspace during the hours of 1730-0930Z (UTC+12). Crash and Fire Rescue assets are available 24 hours per day.

  • Runway (0422):4,500 feet long x 106 feet wide. There is no overrun on either end of runways 04 and 22.
